Prop 75: Reform Elves

Malacandra passed on this 'so bizarre it's a must-read' post to me...from the Arnold Schwarzenegger blog.

Only deep, deep in the Republican mindset can a million dollar donation from a GOP big wig...rrr, I mean reform elf...pulling strings behind the scenes be heralded as reform. Meanwhile the voices of nurses and teachers are written off and silenced... um...just because!

I guess when buying our political system counts as "reform", we've really passed through the GOP looking glass. You see, any millionaire elf giving dollars to Arnold for Prop 75 simply doesn't want working people's voices heard in Sacramento. In fact, you can take that to the bank.

If you live in California, say "no" to Arnold and his fat cats...vote no on Propositions 73-78.

I wonder how much kool-aid one would have to drink in order to write the following without irony:

"He [Mr. Reform Elf] doesn't want to take your tax money and
spend it on something that will him richer or more powerful"

Yeah, I'm sure his anti-tax stance has nothing to do with the fact that he's a rich guy who pays lots in taxes. I'm sure it's all benevolence and he would blanch at the idea that tax cuts might might save him money (making him richer) and give him more disposable income to spend on influencing the political process (making him more powerful).

Answer: you'd have to have kool-aid running through your veins.

form follows function here?

a fat cat gives a bag o' cash to "reform" the election process to enable more fat cats like him to get elected and push through their anti-democracy agenda?

now where does that spin gain traction?
