diary up

I put a diary up at dailykos about Yearlykos. It's pretty much a "meta" piece that is best read with all its dailykos comments (which were excellent and insightful) so I won't cross post it or add anything here other than to say:

It was great to meet so many fellow bloggers and to travel back an forth to Las Vegas in such good company. These are exciting times for grass roots politics.

I'mm disappointed that your comment on the "we are leaderless" thread did not get more of a response-- it's a bizarre assertion given that discussion is regularly policed by the statement that it is Markos's site. The determination to identify his will with, and as, their own i guess reflects the hunger for community/leadership, but it's strange to see the pathologies of representative democracy reprise themselves in this "people-powered" context.

re Ed in Montana: It was very good to meet you too. Our discussion about Montana politics and your friendly greeting is one my best memories of Ykos.

re MakeitStop: No kidding. Markos' post was not exactly logical...and, in parts..."the fact that I have become the lightning rod is good. It keeps our enemies focused on me as a personality rather than the movement, which will continue to grow with or without me. In a lot of ways I'm providing cover."...evinced a rhetorical territory that screams "Danger Will Robinson."

For those curious here's the post in question: It's all about me...and my comment.

You are the only blogger that I want to meet. I take that back I would also like to meet and work with Bowers.

You seem to be the only one who is consistantly looking for ways to empower the powerless, speak truth to power from the bottom up, and ensure that the focus stays on the needs of the disenfranchised.

That is how I have always defined progressive. For me it is issue based in the lives of real people. But this new movement is calling itself progressive without the issues. I find a huge disconect exists on the meaning of word progressive.

I figure that we will eventually get around to defining what we mean by progressive or else we will come up with another word. Because a lot of folks here aren't really progressive.

Thanks for being you. Please take care of yourself so that you don't burn out. I have found that burn out is the number one risk of always fighting for bottom up organizing.
