Military Service and the War in Iraq: parents disapprove

Gordon Lubold in the Chrisian Science Monitor highlights one factor affecting military recruitment nationwide. According to defense department statistics, parents have declining approval rates for their children's enlistment.

This comes as no surprise to retired four-star army general Barry McCaffrey:

"The parents of the country now say, '29,000 killed and wounded, the president doesn't know what he is doing, we think the war is a mistake, and why would I want my son or daughter enlisting for college money?'" says McCaffrey. "So, no kidding, we've got trouble."

A timely Mother's Day message.
